#WrAP (Write a Play) is our annual January playwriting challenge and it’s back for the fourth year running. Throughout the entire month of January, we provide prompts, exercises, mini online workshops, and inspiration to support you in writing a whole draft of a play from start to finish. All of this is sent directly to your inbox to challenge you and spur you on.
The downloadable handbook will take you through the process of producing your own show, from deciding what kind of project to start with (whether it be a scratch night or longer run), to figuring out budgets and fundraising, to marketing your show and getting people to come and see it. It’s jam-packed top tips and guidance.
A useful, downloadable guide packed with all you need to know about formatting, plus some handy hints and tip. It’s perfect for both beginners and more experienced writers who want to pick up some new tricks! This guide is intended for London Playwrights’ Workshop members only – please do not distribute it without our permission.
Member Opportunities
Every other month, starting in March, we’ll be setting a play for everyone to read. From this, we challenge you to write a 10 page short play inspired by what you’ve read. After each submission window, we’ll then select a winner from that round of submissions.
Our online book club gives you the chance to write a 10 minute play in response to a chosen text. Selected short plays will be performed at an event later this year.
We’d also recommend reading the submissions guidelines in detail and familiarising yourself with the work of each theatre before submitting, and do check out our Submissions Checklist course to make sure your play is polished before you send it.
